Why Choose this Course?
The Safe Control of Operations (SCO) scheme is essential for individuals working on the gas network who are responsible for overseeing or carrying out operational tasks. Whether you’re stepping into the role of a Competent Person (CP) or Authorising Engineer (AE) this course provides the knowledge needed to understand critical gas network procedures and perimetry. Aligned with IGEM/GL/6 Edition 3, the training reflects the latest risk-based approach to gas safety management. It ensures you’re up to speed with current industry expectations and compliant with evolving safety standards. The SCO scheme supports both new and experienced professionals, offering an Initial programme for those entering the industry and a renewal pathway for individuals with existing EUSR SCO registrations. Completing this course is a vital step toward achieving or maintaining your network registration, recognised across the gas sector. Important: To undertake any SCO course, candidates must hold a valid EUSR SHEA Gas Passport. This is a mandatory prerequisite and must be in place before training can commence.
